Bella and Vikesh: Santa Monica Engagement Session

I spent one beautiful (and slightly breezy) afternoon on the Santa Monica with Bella and Vikesh over Valentine’s Day weekend. They were in town for the weekend. which made scheduling perfect for their engagement session! Santa Monica was the perfect location for their session since they are both UCLA grads, and we Bruins often came out to the pier to hang out. I love bringing my UCLA couples out to these familiar locations for the nostalgic feel of past dates :)

I rarely photograph engagement sessions on weekends so I certainly wasn’t ready to see how many others came out to enjoy their Saturday afternoon. Luckily, I’m familiar with the best places to shoot at Santa Monica Pier during busy days. Can you tell we were surrounded by people the entire session?

Once the sun set, I was able to use slow shutter speeds to get great blue hour portraits with the crowds moving through the frame!
